(you must have the 1 year free vessel to watch :D  )

Black Friday is coming and time for me to splurge on new PC components and what not. I am thinking I will start with a new case this year. I LOVE my Fractal R4 but have two McDonald's straws holding up my GPU's lol- best tip I got on these forums!

This Cooler Master case looks great on paper. Anyone have it or experience with on? I like the features just from this video. Its either gonna be this case, a Fractal R5, or Corsair 540

only issue i see is if those are buying for the "modularity" and need the extra parts

will usually find them non-existent through normal distribution channels. other

mannies have tried the same and the major carriers only carried the core and not

the extra parts those need to complete their idea. cudos for relaunching an old idea,

but unless distribution can supply all the parts, then the idea will fail, again.

if the core case is what you seek, then you are pretty much safe.

I recently got the MasterCase Pro 5 just shy of 2 weeks ago and I LOVE it. The reason I migrated was because my Spec-01 had very little water cooling support and couldn't fit a reasonably sized air cooler. Rationale aside...

The build quality of the MasterCase is excellent. It is monstrous as well, being much larger than my Spec-01. This is probably on the larger end of the mid-towers. It's also pretty heavy. The case by itself was heavier than my complete PC in the Spec-01. You definitely wouldn't want to lug this around LAN parties.

I love it and can only think of minor things wrong with it. The manual, while functional, doesn't have the best set of diagrams for the listed components. I also wish there were cable management options. For example, I have 3 Corsair AF140s in the front (2 from previously and one I bought when I rebuilt my PC), and trying to cable manage them in the top corner of the case was a nightmare with nowhere to strap down the cables.

The only thing I can give graces for is how it is to work with (excellent, by the way), because looks are subjective. A lot of people love the Fractal Design Define R5, but I'm personally not a fan, preferring the higher air flow and more aggressive looks of cases like the MasterCase and Spec-01. At the end of the day, you can work around how a case is to work with. What you CAN'T get around is how it looks, and if to you it's aesthetically pleasing, then go for it (unless you're the kind of person who builds it and chucks it under a desk, where function > form).

One thing I can't get around is its price. It is on the expensive side, but once you get your hands on it, you can see why. There are much more budget minded options like the Phanteks Enthoo Pro, but for me, this case was a no brainer because it is drop dead gorgeous.

IMO its pretty ugly.

Also, I think it will be a failed concept, as i think not enough parts will be made for it, as its a proprietary thing.

Great input thank you!! I DO like the looks with the exception ot the tinted side panel. I prefer clear so I can see inside. The air flow like you said is a new selling point now since my new PSU is a wood burning stove in disguise and I do not like all that heat expelling from the top of my case now where it was non existent for years.

price is eh. you pay for what you get. the Corsair Carbide 540 is always 100 on sale at best. so spending a few more bucks with free shipping and tax free to have GPU mounts is a deal for me.

I thought I would dislike the tinted portion (it is removable), but now that I have it, the tinted section does actually look pretty good.

Oh, and just so you're aware, it can pretty easily fit a Noctua NH-D15.

I do worry about Cooler Master's commitment to this case in terms of their FreeForm support. I would love to see things like a reservoir skeleton mount for maximum airflow or other bits like that.

I also want a single front mesh panel. I'm not using the 5.25" bays, so the front would like cleaner if it was one big mesh panel rather than have two smaller pop outs for the drives. Those are all things that can be addressed, so I'm just waiting.
