Not CPU, that overclock is INSANE. Please tell me how, lol. It depends really, do you feel like you need more GPU horsepower or not? If those monitors are 1080p, stick the the 970 and get peripherals. They REALLY change the whole experience of your PC. If you are gaming/planning to game at a higher resolution, get the 980Ti. Also why laser SaBre and not optical? I have the optical one and it is soooo good. Get an extended corsair MM200 mousepad as well.

Will do on that mousemat,

And to start, (The optical wasn't available lol) I do feel like I need that little extra GPU horsepower so to speak, I also would like to primarily start gaming at 1440 since I know the 980Ti is more then capable for 1440 maxing, I also would like to move twords 1440p 140/144Hz as well, Since both, the GPU and the monitors will end up costing me 1,400 for both, (GPU & two monitors)

TL;DR version

I would ideally like to move twords higher res and refresh rate (1440 and 75+Hz)

Peripherals wise, My mouse is somewhat starting to die, thats why I used peripherals as an excuse to get a new one.

I may end up doing a 980 Hall Of Fame seeing it would probably suit me for what I'm doing and when time comes to upgrade.

As for the optical, I've never really used an optical, really only Laser.

And for X99, well that one seems to be clear out of the question for now xD, What I originally wanted to do was do one last final push on my chip with Liquid Nitrogen and see how far I could push it before it broke

And for the overclock, A lot of stress, throwing things & a horrible VRM.

I may just get a 980 HoF and try to budget peripherals in there and a new PSU if I can.

What are you doing with your PC? I think that's one thing you need to tell us so we can help you better :)

My suggestions:

1. Get one big monitor. I'm running a 30" 1600p right now with a single GTX 980 Ti. BF4 runs at an average of 80fps.

2. Unless you have a workflow that demands dual monitors (Video editing, Coding, Photography), stick with one.

3. Get a 980 Ti if you're going for 1440p! However, it'll struggle to keep games on ultra above 80fps.

i5 4670k | Noctua NH0-U12S | Asus Z97M Plus | Kingston HyperX Fury 8gb | Palit GTX 980 Ti Super Jetstream 6G | Samsung 850 EVO 250gb

WD Caviar Blue 1tb | Seasonic M12II 850W | Fractal Design Define R5 | Dell U3014 1600p 30" 60Hz

Corsair K65 | Razer Orochi | Bose QuietComfort 15 | Creative SBS A350 2.1

1440p Is end goal, I feel like the 980 might be a better option considering its almost 200 dollars less. I personally like 2 monitors over 1,

I'm a heavy multi-tasker, I don't like things to be large, I prefer multiple smaller screens instead of one large.

I personally don't mind 1080p I would like to have the proper hardware to switch to 1440 eventually though. I personally don't play that many intensive games anymore, Like seriously, I've maybe played 10 minutes of GTA in the past month and 40 hours of Dota within the past week

And yes I do know about SRT, I choose not to use it because of the scaling issues I tend to have
