Free NAS, Windows Server 2012 (Free and legit via msdn http://7pmtech.com/topic/3368-get-partial-msdn-subscription-free-for-3-years-and-win-5-keys-for-windows-sever-2012-and-more/), a good linux distro (i have like 0 knowledge on linux so u would have to ask someone), Windows 8 (did my research and its pretty good for a home server)

Folding for LTT since April 2016.

I'd recommend a Linux distribution, because that's what I'm running. If you don't have any knowledge of Linux, my Debian Home Server Howto should get your server set up in about three hours. It might not be for everyone, though. It isn't exactly a one-touch setup.

Another option is FreeNAS (as said before), but it lacks the flexibility of a fully fledged OS.

If you're willing to spend a bit, or have a license lying around gathering dust, you can combine Windows with FlexRAID, following @looney's FlexRAID tutorial

i think i will go with win server becus its easyer to set up and its got more options

Good luck! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask in this thread or a new one ;)

Also, don't forget to post in the LTT 10TB+ topic. Even if you don't have 10TB or more, it is always nice to see the servers people are running at home.
