Ubuntu server

Hi, so we use only Windows machines, I set up a small backup server (network diagram available here) here are the characteristics of this backup server:

  • Windows 10 Pro x64
  • DELL Dimension E521 (4GB of RAM & Athlon X2)
  • 1 RAID 1 250GB Array+ 1 750GB disk, both NTFS formatted

I don't know much about Linux but would like to get my hands dirty, so I am looking for a distro for this server with the following features:

  • NTFS filesystem support
  • Lightweight and/or barebones (far as I know it doesn't even need a web browser)
  • Relatively easy for a linux beginner

Thanks in advance for you guys' input :)

Okay thanks, will try it out, I was sceptical about this option, considering that canonical has been going more and more rogue lately....

If you can find a copy, Windows Home Server 2011 is not half bad. But, if you are already set on Ubuntu that would work fine.

You are on a need to know basis, and you don't need to know.
