Alright! I've done research, and gotten all of the parts I want together. Now, I need one last thing before I order the parts and build the PC. I need the best price-to-performance value. What I mean by this is that I want to make sure that the parts I've chosen for this build will give me the best value possible for the performance I'm getting out of the build. My current build is an Inspiron 2350, so I definitely need an upgrade for my purposes.

Here's some of my preferences/requirements:

- I have a budget of $1.8k USD. I am willing to go a bit above, but please try to stick to that budget.

- My color scheme is white/black. Please keep that in mind.

- I'd like to stick with Skylake for future upgradability, but that's just a preference.

- I will be using this PC for gaming, video editing/rendering, coding, and all-around usage.

- Here's a list of the games I want to run:

Battlefield Hardline (High Settings, 60+ FPS, 1080p)

Minecraft (Max Settings, GLSL Shaders Mod, 60+ FPS, 1080p)

XCOM 2 (High Settings, 60+ FPS, 1080p)

XCOM: Enemy Unknown (High Settings, 60+ FPS, 1080p)

Trove (Max Settings, 60+ FPS, 1080p)

- I do not want to buy the OS or any other parts from 3rd parties (G2A, Reddit, etc.), nor do I want to illegally download the OS.

- Overclocking would be nice, but not a requirement for me.

-snip-

the MSI krait board might be cheaper and is also b&w

just to confirm, are those ram sticks seperate 8GB or are you buying them as a pack of 2x8? If not, you should be

Hydra, Executioner of Consoles.

Why not just buy a 16gb kit? If you're doing those other multithreaded things, why are you going with an i5? You do not need a 390 to max out those games but if you plan on keeping the card for a while it will last longer than something cheaper. Personally, i'd just go with a 4790k. You save some cash to get a beefier gpu while still having the threads. Also, to let you know, i'm pretty sure the z170 chipset is only getting one more cpu line before the new cpus are on a different chipset. And you can expect the new cpus to offer that same %10 improvement.
