So I just recently built a new PC for my mother, but I've run into a strange problem...

I've used the same motherboard from my last build so I know it works perfectly fine. Problem is, after everything was set and done the PC would not post. It would beep 4 times, the LED would show post code 55, and there would be nothing showing on my monitor. Code 55 is memory apparently, but my RAM does work from my testing. I've tried every DIMM slot available but the same issue persisted.

This is the build:

i3 4130
EVGA z97 FTW motherboard
G. Skill Ripjaws 4GB
WD Blue 1TB
Corsair CX 430 Bronze

Any suggestions? I'm kind of at a loss here...

CPU = i5-4690k | Motherboard = MSI Z97 Gaming 5 | RAM = G.SKILL Trident X Series 16GB | GPU = EVGA GTX 980 TI

Lol I got this. Unplug everything and hold the power button down for 30 seconds.

At least that's what Asus support would tell you...5000 fucking times.

Any way you can get some other RAM?  Maybe pull from another known system, then try installing that.

Also, is this a new PSU?  If so do you have a multimeter that can verify the actual voltage on the power rails?

Yes, all the components work fine.

I've found the problem... I had some bent pins on my CPU socket. I've tried straightening them out, but failed miserably... I've only had this motherboard for about 6 months, and only used it for about 3 weeks. (switched it out for a MSI motherboard from my main computer) Anyway to get warranty to work on this? Most likely the damage was done by me since the motherboard worked perfectly fine when I first got it. Would it be covered under warranty?

Almost every warranty excludes CPU socket damage, specifically for instances like this. However, EVGA is one of the best companies out there for honoring warranties. It wouldn't hurt to shoot them an email, although I'm sure they'll ask if you caused the damage (which wouldn't be covered under warranty).

I figured as much... I guess I'll try EVGA. In the case that I get denied, what would be a good alternative 1150 motherboard? As you can see from the build, it's not a gaming computer. My mother would mostly use it for web browsing and video playback. Any cheap but good motherboards?

With equal features any H97 board will do. If you want to skimp out on things like x4+ USB 3.0 headers and full SATA III controllers, H81 boards are half the price and do the same job.

So EVGA said no.... Didn't really bother trying to argue with them either considering it was most likely my fault. I ended up getting a H81 from MSI. Everthing is dandy now. I'm just out 130 bucks...
