I want to separate a few things storage wise: OS + the essential programs (Word processor Photoshop etc.), 500GB SSD for games & a HDD for mass storage (Music movies etc)

My build is tipping my budget at the moment and I'm considering skipping the HDD for now to get the price down so I can put a separate OS drive instead of a HDD. I feel that it's gonna be a lot easier to have the os separated from the get-go instead of putting it on the 500GB ssd then installing it again later.

I have a laptop that can store music and movies on so mass storage isn't a pressing issue.

I'm looking at 2-4TB capacity. I was watching The Tek by TekSyndicate the other day and they mentioned a brand of 3 or 4TB drive for their NAS that was super stable. And I'm all about stability in storage. If anyone knows about a drive that is super stable and fast that I can add I'd love to know about it. As well as some suggestions or recommendations on SSDs in 500GB and smaller maybe 128GB capacities. If you have a few options, great. The more the better.

Summary: I need suggestions on stable fast an not stupidly priced storage for: OS&Apps > Games > Mass Storage. I'm currently looking at the Samsung 850EVO 500GB for games.

Cheers and thanks in advance.

850 EVO for SSDs

Barracuda or WD Blues. (Remember, skip the even capacities! (2,4,6,etc))

What is the exact reason for this? I've never heard of steering clear of the even capacities before.

The even numbered capacities tend to fail faster than the odd numbered ones.

I don't know why, but it just does.

(or was it the odd numbered ones fail faster than the evens? idk don't listen to me I'm drunk or something atm)

I produce music!
