HyperX FURY series 8GB DDR3 1600MHz CL10 DIMM Memory Module
MSI Radeon R9 390 8GB PCI Express3.1

Motherboard-Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
HDD-Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB
Case-Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case

Hey there IrishSkittle,

The build looks pretty good. What are you going to use it for?
A few things I can suggest:
- The CPU and the Motherboard allow you to overclock the CPU, but for that you would need an aftermarket CPU Cooler to replace the stock one so I'd look into some options (if you want to OC the CPU).
- The motherboard supports dual-channel memory usage so, if you don't plan on upgrading the RAM to 16GB, I would get a 2x4GB kit instead of a single 8GB stick in order to make a better use of the dual-channel support.
- WD Blue is a great drive for everyday usage, but I would consider adding a SSD to the system. It should make the computer run much smoother, make it far more responsive and decrease all loading and boot times.

If this helped you, like and choose it as best answer - you might help someone else with the same issue. ^_^

I appreciate your response, I'd mostly be using this for gaming. I don't think I'll be Overclocking the CPU, and yeah I do plan on upgrading the RAM to 16GB. Also, do you have any suggestions for a SSD? Like I said, I'm not great with parts, and I need use all the help I can get. -Thanks <:

  1. cpu is good
  2. ram is good
  3. gpu is great. msi version is not voltage locked
  4. get an asus, msi, or as rock mobo as gigabyte doesn't allow you to set adaptive mode for your vring and cache ratio
  5. hdd is good
  6. case is good
  7. psu is great, however, i would get a 750w instead if you're going to overclock the cpu and gpu. you could probably get away with 650w, but i wouldn't risk it

Sadly, I can't recommend any specific drives since I am a Western Digital representative (I can't really recommend other brands or products). I could suggest looking around for the best reviews, opinions and see what other people are using in their builds with the similar budget and aim as yours. That should help you out a lot. :)

Regarding the CPU, if you are not planning on OCing the CPU at all you can drop it to a non-k version. The motherboard can also be downgraded to a H97 chipset (but it won't support multiple GPUs).

Since you are planning to upgrade to 16GB of memory, a single 8GB stick is a better idea for now. :)
