I have a i5 4690K that I just put to 4.5ghz. I have CPU-Z, the Gigabyte system monitoring software, and real temp GT. I've run Cinebench and the stress test in CPU-Z and my load temps were around 60c in realtemp and in the 50s in the Gigabyte software. No crashes or errors but it did notice the task indicator in CPU-Z did jump around once and awhile, not sure if that's normal. I looked into the other software meant to test stability but all that software costs money, and I have a classic case of cheap so if I can get it done using the free software I would prefer that.

Cinebench score was 669

Voltage set to 1.220

multiplier is set to 45

If anyone asks you never saw me.

If your test's ran stable and you didn't have any forms of errors/crashes etc then your OC is stable. (Can still crash on games sometimes though!)

As long as you passed tests and your temp's are good for your comfort level (your temps are cracking for the OC), then your good to go with the OC and start using it as you normally would.

Just keep checking temperatures etc

Try some Battlefield 3/4 if you really want to make sure. I found that it really shows an unstable OC after about thirty minutes of playing. Or you can try OCCT and Intel's Tuning Software. They are free, by the way. :)

Intel XTU is what I always recommend. It's a very strong testing suite with very nice (if not special) built in monitoring, that doesn't arbitrarily superheat your components like say linpack or to a lesser extent prime95 can do.

Also it's free.

I don't have Battlefield but I did run Star Swam and Firestrike, both showed improvements. I also took my radiator fans off the case fan controller and ran them through a spliter to the opt cpu header on the mobo. This allowed me to set a more aggressive fan map for them for when I run anything CPU heavy that doesn't load the GPU. That kept the temperature of the CPU below 60c even when under the stress test for over ten minutes. Also scored 672 in cinebench after that change, no idea if that was just a good run or an improvement.

Thanks for the help and I'll check out the software that was suggested, I'm a science major so the more information I can gather the more comfortable I am.
