i need some input about this thing (CPU)

Hello!, My fellow PC Enthusiast

 

    To begin with im currently using a phenom II x4 925 in my AM3+ MSI 970a -G46. Now im planning to do some "minor" upgrade. I have a spare LGA 1155 ECS X77H2-A3 motherboard my brother gave me last month. Since im not ready to jump to Skylake / Zen or DDR4 anytime soon i only have two options.This are my "ONLY" options so please dont recommend other CPU's. Well here it goes..

 

1. I can buy a FX 8320E and keep my motherboard which is MSI 970a -G46.. (I have a decent cooler which is Swiftech H220)

2. Or use my brothers LGA 1155 ECS X77H2-A3 and Buy a Refurbish/OldStock i5- 2400 or i5- 3470

 

    I play online games alot, Multitask alot and do some streaming. What do you think is the better option for me? By the way those two option would cost me roughly same amount of money and please dont fight over this ;) :lol:

i5 3470 is the best bet for gaming.

EDIT: Avoid refurbisheds though - can end up breaking very fast.

well the thing is since it was 2nd or 3rd gen it was already phased out in stores and i can only buy old stock or refurbished :(

Old stock - as in leftovers? Refurbisheds are usually crap.

If it hasn't been used - just sitting somewhere it's fine. if it was broken then repaired I'd stay away from it.
