Yes just attach the bridge and it doesn't matter about the aftermarket so long as it's the same GPU with the same Vram

You can sli cards if they have the same gpu and the same ammount of vram so a gigabyte gtx 970 4GB (3.5) could go with a asus gtx 970 4GB (3.5)

Motherboad must be certified, the x16 PCIe slots must run at no less than x8 x8 and your power supply must be adequate.

you need the same chip (GTX970 for example) brands do not matter, but all GPUs will clock to the slowest one if i recall correctly.

 

you need to add an SLI bridge.

 

you need an SLI certified motherboard (only a thing on Z chipsets as far as i know, look at the spec list for the specific motherboard to make sure it supports SLI)

 

you need to enable SLI in the nvidia settings.

 

EDIT: kinda shouldnt need to say this, but your power supply must have enough juice to power the party.
