B85 overclocking soon not possible?

Hi guys

 

So I plan to buy the ASUS B85M-G because of the great price, the quality asus provides, and the fact that it received a bios update from ASUS which allows for overclocking. And I have seen people push the 4670k to 4ghz easily on this board.

 

Now i see this message:  http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2013/07/25/intel-overclocking-block/1

 

it states intel will be doing a microcode update to prevent overclocking on non Z platforms.

I am wondering what this means, does it mean if I just dont update my drivers I will be able to overclock forever?

And if I do happen to buy a motherboard with the microcode update, can I downgrade from it?

Its a decent board, however there isnt really space for something like a sound card unless you dont put a graphics card in.

i heard rhat it will be something in windows itself instead of the bios that prevent from overclocking on non z87 platforms, i could be wrong dough

if so just disable anything but C1E and C3-C6 states in bios so that intel's management software wont able to slow the cpu down
