Laptop GPU not behaving itself.

Go to solution Solved by manikyath,

Games say only the iGPU is being used. is that just the game?

in your nvidia settings you can pick if stuff runs on the igpu, on the nvidia chip, or "pick automagically"

the last one is more often than not wrong in deciding whats best for you. you can set application specific settings for your games, and force those to the nvidia gpu.

I have an Asus N550L with an I7 4500U and a Nvidia 745M.

When I go to the Nvidia control panel, it tells me the iGPU is being used as the graphics adapter, I have also noticed this in games. When I disable the iGPU the laptop won't display the 745M anymore. I have the latest Drivers in Windows 10, though the problem already originated from Windows 8.1.

My dad used this laptop before I did so I'm not sure if it never has worked.

Thanks in advance.

in intel/nvidia laptops the igpu and nivdia chip work "together" to be more energy efficient. (my laptop fully powers off the nvidia chip when i'm not doing anything intensive, which i believe most do)
