Hello guys I am planning to build a mini itx or matx system because my aptop does not meet my needs anymore, I do some light video editing in After Effects and Premiere Pro as well as some Photoshop and Illustrator... (omg what an ADOBE fanboy ;D ) so I don't do any gaming at all, not even a little bit because I prefer to lay on my ps3, sooo yeah that is my question do I need a video card???

I know I don't need like a gtx 770 but something cheaper like a 7950 or would that be a waste of money for my use???

Oh and I obviously watch movies and youtue a lot and do quite a lot of research on the browsers.... Thanks for all your help and advise guys!!! ^^

Actually getting a video card might in fact benefit you a bit in the adobe programs. Currently cuda is the widely used thing in adobe however patches are coming out for open cl. In the end what I'm trying to say is getting a nice cheap video card like a 7790 or 650ti and you will see a benefit.

Get a cheaper one since ur not gaming. Maybe the 7870

but is even that necessary, that is my question??

You could get a gpu for open CL or cuda but if you dont really care about those two, i'd just get a cpu ( though a 4770k since editing, its 30% faster than the 4670k in rendering stuff due to hyperthreading ) and then if you see things are choppy then just get a gpu

Hmm, the 760 is a great card, but then again, if you have more money I would get the 7970 or 770

Rather get 4770k, you will benefit from hyper threading in those applications. If you were to only game, then quad core would do just fine.

Yeah the only thing is that I am still at school and can't afford a 4770k

Thans man I think that is what I will do with the video card, however I think I will stay with the 4670K because I can't afford a 4770K :(

Did you even read the post?

hehehe thanks for that man ^^

Oh and what do you all guys think of a node 304 compared to a CM elite 120??? or maybe any other mini itx case ^^ oh and the elite 120 is much cheaper and has an optical disk slot which is useful for me but not a must tho as external ones are quite cheap however the elite 120 is kinda ugly to me

Probably not unless you want to have CUDA/OpenCL acceleration in the future.

It depends on what you're doing. How intensive is the Adobe work you're doing?

The Node 304 is smaller. Both are great choices. I agree on the CM 120 Elite's looks that could be improved on but it doesn't look that bad in video. It's hard to tell the size of it on a picture because it seems so big without something next to it. It's up to how much you want to pay.

If you are doing adobe (I use adobe a lot as well) get like a 660Ti or a 760 for cuda acceleration.

Or wait for adobe to update for Stream processor acceleration and get a 7970, 7950, 7870, or a next gen model.

As far as I know, the bulk of Adobe already takes advantage of OpenCL where possible except for After Effects.
