Hi everyone, ok so last week, i used my computer as per norm and suddenly when i woke up a couple of days back, i started up DOTA and my game started to lag alot and when i checked MSI Afterburner. my GPU usage was hovering around 95 to 100 percent with no programs other than MSI Afterburner, ok so im using An Asus GTX 670 DirectCU II TOP edition and i really dont know what to do anymore because iv tried switching between beta and WHQL Drivers but to no avail and its really random like sometimes i can play normally and sometimes the GPU screws up and stays at 100 percent usage again

You should look in Windows task manager and check under processes to see what is utilizing the CPU. It may give an idea to a background process that is using the CPU. You may have inadvertently installed a background program. It's the best place to start.

Oh bother, just re-read your post. GPU...not CPU. lol Sorry carry on.

There was a lot of problems with the gtx 670 top edition before, im surprised there are still problems, its only with asus that there is this usage issue. I had teh same issue with a asus 6770. I just rebooted and it went. If your temps and the fan is fine then its just a broken sensor.

look in task manager and see if you have a task called svchost32.exe running...if you have end it, it is a virus that makes you GPU run at 100 constantly.

If you have this, you also need to run MSCONFIG and find the trigger in start up that is forcing this to start, and stop it from starting...you will then need to find the file that is the virus and delete it..

Virus scanner missed this one for me, so you will have to find and remove it manually (isn't too hard) if you have it.

but there are so many svchost.exe and none of them have 32 at the back, which one of them do it delete cuz some of them say network or local or system and they are all host processes

Look for Iehighutil.exe in the processes (Bitcoin mining virus, uses your gpu)

+ Doesn't hurt to run a malwarebytes scan just in case

Also did you update your drivers recently? (asking because the latest nvidia drivers are abit flaky for some)

I have the ASUS Direct CUII GTX670. It runs fine, but I don't have DOTA. With your Nvidia driver have you installed the Gforce Experience. Perhaps that has been updated and is launching your game with higher settings then you previously used. Not sure if DOTA is a supported game but may be somewhere to look.
