New Build Recommendations

Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

Ok, so:

i5 4670k

Asus Z87 K > http://www.eshopcy.com.cy/show.phtml?id=PER.523120

The 7970 I chose is the cheapest on the site, so that's good

I chose the specific RAM because it will match my Blue led fans on the case

I'm getting the Pro SSD because my boss is going to get it on wholesale price, so it's about the same price as a standard one

Corsair TX850M

Monitor is going to come in the next few months, so I'm going to be using my Full HD 32" LG TV for now

Thank you very much for your suggestions!

Looks solid. Enjoy your build. :)

Hey guys,

I'm building a new PC, I've already chosen most of the parts(open to changes), but the part I'm having difficulty choosing is the PSU.

Budget & Location:

1400 Euros

Cyprus

Aim:

Gaming

Monitors:

1 monitor

Peripherals:

I already own peripherals

Why are you upgrading?

This is my first Gaming PC. I only own a Dell 1545(i5) for general uses but it's not that good for gaming :) I will not be overclocking, because I'm too scared I'm gonna burn everything..!!

Here are the parts I chose:

CPU: Intel i5-4670 LGA1150 Haswell

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-Z87-D3HP

GPU: Sapphire HD7970 OC 3GB GDDR5 Dual X

CPU Cooler: Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo

Case: Zalman Z11 Plus

RAM: Kingston Hyperx Genesis 2x4GB 1600Mhz

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200 Sata 3

SSD: Samsung Pro 840 128GB

Optical Drive: Samsung DVD/RW

PSU: Be Quiet! Straight Power Modular E9-CM-680W

Is this power supply good enough? I believe the wattage is good enough, but should i go with another brand/model?

I will be buying locally since shipping is too much.

This is the site PC configurator I will be shopping from.. It's in Greek though: http://www.eshopcy.com.cy/PER_pc_config_desktop.phtml

Everything seems good, but you might want to look at some corsair psus

PC Specs:  2x GTX 550 ti in SLI - Intel i7 2600k @ 3.4Ghz - Thermaltake Overseer Case - 8 GB Corsair Vengeance Ram - 1TB Harddrive - 500 Watt PSU that came with my old prebuilt pc lawl -  ASUS P8P67 EVO

Peripherals:  Razer Deathadder Black Edition - Razer Arctosa Keyboard - Logitech G53 Headset

Cool song of the day: Chief Keef - Round da Rosey    Changed my profile pic again...                                        Mountain Dew is good. So are video games and music. Oh and unicorns.

Edits/suggestions (This may be a bit confusing or extensive but read along):

Bump CPU up to 4670k. You might change your mind in the future. If you're sure you're not going to overclock, bump down to a 4430 and don't get a z87 motherboard. A z87 motherboard is for overclocking.

If you took my advice to get a 4670k, get the cheapest z87 mobo you can get from a local store from this list: http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/motherboard/#c=89&l=2&u=1&sort=a6

If you're going with no overclocking and a 4430, same method here (cheapest mobo from the list you can find at your local store): http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/motherboard/#u=1&sort=a6&qq=1&s=24

Get the cheapest dual/triple fan 7970 you can find. Don't worry too much about the brand.

As for the ram, get the cheapest CL9 1600 memory you can find. Brand does not affect performance.

Get the normal Samsung 840 120GB. You won't notice the difference in performance but the price gap is quite significant.

The psu is enough but it's too much for one 7970 and not enough for 2 7970's.

If you went with a mobo from my z87 list (The ones in the list are all sli/crossfire capable), get a 800-850w bronze plus  or higher grade psu so you can add a 7970 later without replacing your psu.

If you went with a B75 or H87 mobo from the second list, they are not all sli/crossfire compatible and you should get a 600-650w bronze plus or higher psu.

When choosing the psu, just get the cheapest one that matches the criteria I listed. As long as those are met, you are more than fine. Anything bronzee plus or higher is fine. Silver, Gold, and Platinum are far from necessary.

Also, look for Antec, Be Quiet, Corsair, NZXT, OCZ, Seasonic, Silverstone, or XFX as they are well regarded for psus.

For your display, look for a nice IPS panel--A mediocre IPS panel tends to be better than the standard TN.
