Windows 10 and Chrome 64bit Loading Circle

Silentsoul

Issue:

When launching Chrome on windows 10 the mouse loading indicator keeps spinning as if it is still trying to do something after chrome is fully launched.

Thoughts and Testing:

At first i thought this was an isolated issue on my secondary rig that i updated to Windows 10 just to get a feel for it and to start tweaking. After upgrading my sons PC it had the same issue with Google chrome so i figured i would share my findings if anyone else is having this same issue.

My first step was doing a clean install of Windows 10 on my secondary rig as i was already going to do it anyhow. This issue still occurred.

So, after some digging and testing.

Fix:

1. Launch chrome

2. Type chrome://flags/#disable-direct-write in the search bar and hit enter.

3. Navigate to where "Disable DirectWrite" is highlighted and enable it.

4. Restart Chrome and done.

Conclusion:

If no one else was having this issue then great but i assume i was not the only one considering i had it occur on multiple computers. So, in conclusion, if this helped one single person out then it was worth posting it.

I don't have this particular problem, however this method fixed another problem that I had, which was whenever I typed something in the url bar and the autocomplete suggestions (or whatever u call it) appeared, the url bar only showed the first 4 or 5 letters that I typed in but the text cursor kept going to the right.

For example, I wanted to type "linustechtips" in the url bar, but it only showed "linus              | "

However I could still see the word "linustechtips" in the autocomplete suggestions box and when I pressed enter, it still went to search the word "linustechtips" on google and showed the results like usual. It just kinda annoyed me when I couldn't see the word that I typed in in the url bar.

I don't see what the problem is. Is it when u launch chrome, the loading wheel will still be there forever or the loading wheel is just there for like 3 seconds more, after fully launching?
