Raspberry Pi as a NAS?

as96

Is the Raspberry Pi powerful enough to be used as a NAS, it will be used mainly to stream video of relatively large size (up to 10GB).

I thought about using my HTPC as a NAS but it uses too much power and it will be expensive to keep it running 24/7.

If you can hook up enough storage via USB, then yes

no point since USB HDDs are not really "the sh!t" when talking about NAS

CPU: Xeon 1230v3 - GPU: GTX 770  - SSD: 120GB 840 Evo - HDD: WD Blue 1TB - RAM: Ballistix 8GB - Case: CM N400 - PSU: CX 600M - Cooling: Cooler Master 212 Evo

That shouldn't be an issue

Also keep in mind that you will need a powered USB hub. A pi with a 1A USB power supply cannot power a drive

USB is more than enough for video/audio files.

it could

but if you were okay transferring hundreds Gigabytes of data on kilobytes speed then good.

decent router with USB port might do better than Po, I mean Pi.
