Hello Forum,
I hope i am posting in the right place.
I'm a gamer in need of a new headset. I've had a siberia V2 before and i extremely pleased with it in every aspect. Comfort, sounds, bass and rigidity. Right now i have a budget of about 200-300 USD to spend on a new one. I am not the biggest audio geek so that's why i'm posting here, hoping maybe someone might help me find the best headset for my needs.

What i'm looking for in a headset is primarily comfort and good sound quality.A very strong point for a headset for me at least is the surround sound aspect of it. I am not necessarily talking about having 5.1 or 7.1 audio in the headset. But when i do play games like Counter strike and such i do want to be able to tell exactly where my teammates and where my enemy is. The siberia V2 that i had did an amazing job at this, despite being a 2.1 stereo headset.  I do want the bass to be deep and punchy, but not too much bass because for me that could ruin the experience as a whole. If anyone has owned a siberia V2 before, that's the kind of bass i am looking for at least. I have heard some good things about companies like Audio Technica and Plantronics but are they the best ones for this budged? I couldn't say. Maybe someone here knows more about this matter than i do.

Another thing i do want to emphasize with this headset is a good quality microphone. I hate it when i'm talking to someone over skype or something else and they just doing sound good because their microphones are bad. I know some microphones tend to make sounds like P and B sound a bit too harsh and i would like to avoid that. Breathing that much air into the microphone isn't very pleasing for the person listening to me.

Thank you to anyone who answers in advance. :)

If you don't mind a second wire I would highly suggest a modmic, its a better microphone than anything I have heard from a headset. Then use whatever the rest of your budget is on headphones. Will give you the best mic and headphone quality for the price.

I'm using Audio Technica ATH-ANC9 and once you up the bass in an EQ or just flick the noise cancelling switch they sound great (Can hear everything in CS:GO perfectly, can hear 9/10 where people are to almost the exact point), but really just get what you like...

Used to use Sol Republic Master Tracks because I got them REALLY cheap (I'm talking like 40% off and tax-free), those were quite nice too, though a bit muddy.

I Know this is a budget option, but this is a really solid headset, just a consideration... The Hyper X Cloud (ver 1) It's well built with a Steel Frame, Leather Headband and cups (plus free extra cups although not leather) and really solid and balanced sound with a good mic. I know it's nowhere near your budget, but it's a consideration.

from what i've head they have high impedance and having a PC from 3-4 years ago that could cause some sound quality issues ... or so i've been told. the sound ma be quiet and i may not have a broad sound stage.

I don't know anything about buying microphones. I'm looking for a headset for convenience reasons, not headphones. Plus that's another purchase that i need to make. To be honest i would prefer if i didn't have to deal with that.

The Sennheiser G4me one, open back, has an impedance of 50hz, the Sennheiser G4me Zero, closed back, has an impedance of 150hz

I second the hyperX clouds. Great sound, removable mic if you want, changeable ear cups.

Also, I've never had issues with surround on stereo hardware. Most games code for it anyway, so no sense paying for a gimmick when the game engine already did it.

Lastly, i think the clouds have 60 impedance but I'm running it off my rear output on an msi z97m and it's plenty loud and clear.

The clouds aren't really the best thing for this budget...

@OP, the modmic mentioned previously is the best way to go for your budget, but if you insist on doing an all in one headset, there are decent options from both Sennheiser and Audio Technica. If you want something that is pretty close to the build style, but better in just about every way to the Siberia, look at the headsets from Audio Technica, or their AD_00X line.

For another company that does a similar style, look at AKG products, although you should be warned that AKG gear tends to be very, very inefficient and would probably require an amplifier.

As far as surround sound goes, I would suggest that you take a look at this: 7.1 Headphones?

Hey! New SIgnature!

I'm supposedly a person on the Internet, but you'll never know if I'm human or not ;)
