No need for 10Bbs if you don't have a ssd nas or very fast internet

300 down and 150 up is glorious, and for NY those are great speeds

Recommend what is best, not what you preffer.

Well I'm thinking of an ssd nas but for easy access to fast files almost like using it like a cache but don't have the money for a 10 port 10 Gbs switch or nics.

6mbs down and 1.5 mbs up here :'( atleast my ping is around 5-8 :D And for your question I'd say that go for the 150mbs if it's cheaper. It's still fucking fast lol.

That depends on your cost/bennefit analysis :)

If you loose more money by waiting for files to transfer than you would otherwise make working, it would be worth it - then you just need to calculate how long time it will take to pay the investment back for it to give + in your bank account :)

For a home user for streamer - worth it would be some big words to use.

Fun and awesome, yes - worth it, not so much.

For me i have found that a 4port intel nic and a managed switch and link aggregation is sufficent for home use with x devices writing and reading to and from my NAS.

You also have to take ios and theoretical transferrate into your calculations as you most likely wont even be able to satuate a 4Gbps link with a normal raid 5 or 6 - unless you have 5+ disks and ssd cache.

In regards to your question about internet speed - if you need it, you should get it :) if not, you might want to save the money and get a slower connection and use that money to upgrade your home network as your perceived speed will be higher with an effective network as most webpages now a days bennefit more from a fast responsetime (ms) than download/upload speed.

But.. if you just want it for the E-penis factor, I would definately get as fast a connection as possible.! (or if its priced similarly to the other offers in the area)
