Rig Upgrade? Help!

Ok so i have a athlon 4450b and I want to upgrade to a phenom 1055t, is this possible? will my am2 mobo support it? also how do i know if my mobo supports overclocking?

 

If the upgrade is possible i would like to put in a Gtx 750ti, would this bottleneck? and what what is the best gpu that wontbottleneck? (im probably going to overclock too)

 

My psu came with the pc which is like 300 watts which i know wont be enough, so how many watts will i need? I also am planning to get another hdd if that helps.

 

 

I also want to try not to replace my mobo completly.

300w is enough for a 750Ti. I have one, w/ a HP PSU. ( lol I know ) and overclocked it until,I realized my APU bottlenecked it.

you have a socket am2 board and phenoms are am3 so no they arent compatible

 

as far as what psu to get any 550-600 decent psu will be enough for any single card set up

 

and cant talk about bottlenecking cause i dont know about your current processor but i do know if you want an upgrade you will need to upgrade your mobo too

I thaught am3 cpu's worked with am2 because they supported ddr2 aswell as ddr3

 

and apu bottlenecking doesnt sound good considering the phenom im assuming is worse than a  a 10/8. was is the gpu or cpu you overclocked??

am3 cpu do not work with am2 boards and vice versa. As far as power supply it depends on what 750ti your getting, if u get one that needs no external power then your psu is fine you wont be able to overclock those ones that much tho. Ones that need external power will also need you to switch psu (550 or 600w from decent brand will do) and these will overclock much better. I dont think the card will have a bottleneck from a phenom cpu but i  have no experience with that chip.

 

Edit scratch that first part seems you can use am3 chips but your motherboard will need to have drivers to support it and be able to deliver sufficient power.

You can get a 4470 or 4560 and any motherboard that supports lga 1050

For the psu go with which has the power rated as continuous and is from a trusted brand.

AM2 can use any Phenom I not Phenom II... :(

 

I think if its AM2+ it may be able to use some AM3s... but you need to check the motherboard support list...

What GPU are you gonna use on it? 750Ti to 960 is maximum! :P

I am going to get a 750ti evga superclocked and maybe soon a 960 because im on a small budget, also here is a link to my mobo, i cant tell if its am2 or am2 plus.....

 

 

edit : aparently the one you suggested is better than the 1055t so im very happy thanks!!
