who the fuck spends $1000 on earbuds

I would, just because you can't wrap your head around it doesn't mean no one could

My mate spend £280 on Sennheiser IE80s...

I still give him grief about it to this day. It was a great deal but still, imagine how many starving African children that would have fed.

Because he can't buy something that can make him happier with his own money.

TBH OP, why do you want another IEM for going out? Nobody knows it's a $1K IEM, people would think it's $50. You could've spent that $1K on a headphone instead and get a better sound quality if you're only gonna use SE846 at home. I teased the shit out of my friend for doing the same exact thing, his IEM is SE846 too.

I just spent $900, but I got 25% off. I would have spent full price ($1300) happily. I assume you don't know, but in ears can sound just as good as full size cans of the same price.

I would if I could afford them.

According to all the reviews they're beyond good.

They're really only good for a universal. Just about any custom (or universal version of many customs) in that price range will beat the 846.

Pretty much this. Shure doesn't make flashy in ears. Anyway, you could get something like the Shure SE425, if you want to keep it in the family. Otherwise, I would probably recommend something from Westone (The 4/4R/W40 especially, but I think they usually start at $500.)

Hey! New SIgnature!

I'm supposedly a person on the Internet, but you'll never know if I'm human or not ;)
