IR controll for receiver?

My receiver has a place where i can plug in an IR receiver, I did, but it doesnt work.

 

Am i doing something wrong?

 

I can only controll it by pointing remote at the receiver, not the IR receiver.

 

Does it have to be a certain IR receiver?

 

Do i have to configure anything?

I assume you are talking about your audio/home theatre receiver? Are you sure that it has an IR receiver port on it or is it an IR Blaster (out) port?

 

Generally how the IR Repeaters/receivers work is that they will have little IR LED's plug into them, for which you run the cable to the device you want to control and stick it right next to that device's IR sensor.

I think so. Do not quote me on it, maybe looking up the specific model of your receiver on the goog might shed some light.
