I'm a little concerned with heat of the video card. Which would produce less heat?

I would get a 780 ti. Little better than the 970.

Just because you don't care, doesn't mean other others don't. Don't be a self-centered asshole. -Thank You a PSA from the people who do not say random shit on the internet.

I should note that I currently have a 7950 3gb gpu and an Acer 144hz monitor. Would I notice that much difference, or at least enough to justify the upgrade? I'm having a hard time achieving 144fps with satisfactory settings.

Why are you trying to reach 144fps? To justify having a 144 refresh rate on your monitor? If that's the case your better off trying to get the best graphical fidelity you can get with 60fps. Plus, 60fps vs 144fps is not worth it.

Current: CPU: Intel i3-4130   GPU: XFX R7 260X  2GB   RAM: 8GB   Future: CPU: Intel i5-4430   GPU: GTX 960

Lol, 144hz is not worth it? 60hz is a slideshow.

60FPS is the new 30FPS.

Keyword "worth". It's not like comparing 30fps to 60fps. I guess its worth the extra money to see those minor differences ha

Did you ever experienced it? Looking at your specs, i don't think so.

Talking about second hand, a older cpu like a second hand 2500K with a second hand R9 290 can be easily done for 500$.

First, I'm not the only one on my house that has a gaming PC. My bother is an IT like myself who has the GTX 980 in his room and enjoys playing that with a 144hz monitor just as much as he does playing in the living room on our 60hz HDTV using a my R7 260X. With that in mind, I've experienced it and there are no justifiable differences to say its worth the extra money towards a better GPU just to get a FPS boost that's barely noticeable.

I already have the monitor. Playing under 120 fps isn't very desirable. And the difference between 60hz and 144hz is highly noticeable. I could never go back..

So your stating your playing at above 120fps on a 7950?

On low settings I do. Just depends on the game really.

To each his own but if you choice low settings at 120fps over ultra settings at 60fps then that's your deal. I have to say that's very ambiguous.

Lmao go play CS:GO or Battlefield 4 and then come back saying 60hz vs 144hz isn't huge difference...

What do you want me/us to spend our money on anyways?

I don't choose nothing. I play Battlefield 4 at Ultra settings at locked 144FPS. Even in Witcher I get around 75 FPS at Ultra 1440P.

Is a 299$ for a Gigabyte 390 8GB too "expensive" for you? Lol...

The irony: We play Battlefield 4 more than anything and I still stick to my opinion. We might have less than decent hearing in my family but our eyes sight and vision is damn near perfect. Also, I never said there was "no" experienced visual differences between 60fps and 120fps. I'm stating its not justifiable considering the amount money you have to spend more on a GPU. There is no justifiable balance.

Unlike most PC gamers, I just like to have a enjoyable and pleasing gaming experience without much sacrifice in graphical settings and frame rates. I do not require above 40fps, 1080p or high settings. Actually, I've been impressed at the performance of my i3 and R7 260X and above what I was expecting

I'm 19. I got my first job a few months ago. I made 1000€ this two last months with trading mainly high-end monitors and some other parts.

What I'm gonna do with my money? Buy weed, alcohol and drugs like everyone else, no thank you :D

For a game like Battlefield 4 I just can't go back to 60hz. I've used a 4K 60hz monitor and it's not that bad for games like Witcher 3 but in Battlefield I got owned really hard like 30 deaths 10 kills, when I usually get alteast 1.5 K/D thanks to my 144hz monitor :P

#WorkHardPlayHard

P.S. I don't really like RAP but this video was suiting...

Also Wiz Khalifa is PC Gamer look at this video: https://youtu.be/7mx_iRibYck?t=16s

I'm 31 who is an IT. It's not much to brag about but it far fetched from what I was making and who I was when I was 19. I learned at that age that I will never spend money on unnecessary things which at that time was not drugs ha.
