Windows Invalid Image

Go to solution Solved by Naeaes,

Sorry it took me a while. I couldn't find anything out of the ordinary in the log. This is tarting to look more and more like you need to recover or reset your Windows.

So I'm getting this error message when opening alot of programs.

post-87946-0-89159900-1441044713.jpg

For those of you that don't know norwegian it says:

"Origin.exe -Invalid image

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\LINKINFO.dll is either not created to run under Windows, or contains an error. Try installing the program again with the original installation media, or contact administrator or programsupplyer to get help. Error status 0xc0000020."

The last thing I did before starting to get those messages was uninstalling a game using Origin. I've had it for a few days, and I have restarted multiple times. I have tried finding solutions, but they are all just viruses, and other kinds of bs. I've tried the "sfc /scannow" command in command prompt with administrator access, but then it says this: post-87946-0-77729000-1441045254.jpg

Help would be appriciated, thanks

:)

It didn't work, I ran it four times in a row in the same command prompt and it said "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation"

One thing you could try is running the scan in safe mode. You can easily reboot Win 10 to safe mode by holding down shift while you click restart.

SFC /scannow also keeps a log of what it's done and hasn't done. It's located at "%windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log" I don't have any errors there myself and I can't for the life of me remember what to look for so could you take a copy of yours and upload it online somewhere so I could take a look at it? cbs.log can be opened in notepad but be sure not to write over the original. It's a bit on the bigger side too so you might want to zip it before uploading.

At that point, instead of wasting more time on it, you might as well repair or format windows. Would be quicker.

Alright, thanks. I'll reset the PC with the "Keep my files" option.

So, did it fix your issue?

Well, I tried the keep files option first. Then, because it didn't work, I tried the option where it deletes everything and installs it again. That didn't work either. It just cleared the drive, so I couldn't boot into Windows. So I installed Windows 8.1 from the disc again. And that worked. Downloading everything is a pita, but it's better than not having a PC.  :)
