I could probably swing a little over 300.00 maybe even up to 400.00, for gaming

this is the best you can probably do for 400. overclock the g3258 and youll be good to play some games. but id recommend saving up to $600

Definitely get a z97, not an h97 If you get a Pentium or a cpu that supports overclocking. I doesnt matter if it costs a bit more but it is definitely worth it. It ends in k (e.g. i7 6700k) if It overclocks. unless its a Pentium. I would only get a g3258 if u get a Pentium.
