I have got an h100i on an i5 4670k @ Stock speeds. While I play the witcher 3 the max temperature that I reach on any core is 80degrees celsius. I know that this processor tends to run hot anyways but this seems just a little too high don't you think? The Noctua NF-F12s in the radiator are probably only running half speed so is there a way to increase that or is there no need?

you should be able to set a custom fan curve in the BIOS somewhere

Woah 80*C is too high bud.... That core does run hot but not that hot....

Well I was measuring the temps using afterburner so maybe there is an inaccuracy? Can you tell me how to increase my fan speed for my rad fans or any other solution. Can the processor break from that type of heat or..?

Not it can't break. I ran my I5 760 for years at probably 99C because I was a noob and didn't know nothing about PC's. And it still goes strong.

The problem here is that it runs at 80C in Witcher 3 which uses very little cpu 20-30%. If you are playing Battlefield 4 or other heavy cpu games your CPU may reach 90C?

It will throttle before the temperature can damage it, but damn this is a high temp with that cooler, maybe it's your thermal paste or the cooler is not mounted properly?

On my 8 cored AMD overclocked to 4,5 on air cooling I get 45-50 degrees when playing TW3, it's impossible that you get it on a cooler i5 with more efficient cooling (i guess) without any overclocks

i believe that this is still safe, just waaaay too hot for what it is doing. it can go to about 90-95 degrees before it turns itself off for safety.

my 4670K gets about 50 degrees with a H60 in TW3!

I think you installed it incorrectly because no way does a 4670K reach 80C on stock

Yes I did install it correctly over a year and half ago, just recently the temps went up

  • 1 year later...

Pretty sure i know why your temps were high and it was not your PC. It was because (Hopefully you moved on or realized and enjoyed the amazing game) you were prolly on the menu screen, the one with the inventory and all that jazz. I get 80c exactly as well just idling on it then it jumps back down to 57 ish when I'm off of it. Strange thing. I'm using an i7 7700k OC'ed, pretty sure that makes a little more heat then than what you are running, (no offense intended friend) so you should def not be hitting 80c. Hope this helps or u figured it out man.

Using a Corsair H80 to cool an overclocked R5 1600 and it caps out at about 70C under full load (BOINC). Usually mid-40s to low 50s while in games (including Witcher 3)
