It's done for...

I actually have an old X800XT with the exact same issue. No matter what I tried fixed it. Usually it's heat that gets these older chips. Perhaps if everything else fails you can do the famous oven trick...

Since the computer is still working all it can be is your graphics card, your monitor cable or your monitor. The only way to find out which it is, is to switch out each one until the problem goes away. Good luck!

So you changed out your cables, tried a different monitor and a different GPU?

So it works fine when you're going off of onboard video? That means it's definitely a GPU issue. It might be time to get a new one.

If it worked when you took out the GPU then it is definitely the graphics card that is the problem. You cant really fix the graphics card. What GPU do you have btw?

Well you're dealing with a 5 year old GPU, so it very well may simply be dying. All you can really try is reinstall drivers, check your temperatures and clean the cooler. It probably won't do much though.

Most likely not no. What you can do is try to somehow get it to boot and check what temps the graphics card is running at. It could be running to hot and be overheating causing that problem.
