Do those have a hundred dollar silent solution?

Yup - get the M12II EVO 620W and enjoy modularity, quality and silence.

imo I would go with the M12II,

also, 650 ( or 620 ) is enough, even for a R9 390

Forgot to tag you in my above question.

RM series have bad secondary capacitors and they are known to give out more easily - The RMi, HX, HXi are a safer bet but Corsair are overpriced at the moment - the EVGA one you pointed out is quite a bit better

Why do you consider the rm to be inferior? I was mostly driven by the silent fan mode. I am building in a define r5. How does the evga 650 g2 compare?

EVGA G2 is better. RM has a bad reputation due to using subpar caps in the context of being advertised as a high end unit. They're still good psus though.

Either are overkill though. A decent 500w is already more than enough.

Well I was considering upgrading to the 4790k in the future. Would a decent 500w handle that also.

A 4790k with any single GPU would be fine on 500W.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.
