just finished my first custom loop as the picture below. the problem i have is that the three fans on the top rad which are on a three fan splitter and connected to the cpu fan header and also a 4 pin molex are constantly going at full speed 2000 rpm, i cant seem to control them anywhere , ion the mobo bios there is no option to control them which i think has something to do with the three fan splitter. please help somebody i just want to custom all fans to 40-50 percent. i have 8 fans in my system.

Download AI suite since you have an Asus board it will let you set temperature based fan curves off of different components. Make sure the setting is also on PWM control since you are using 4 pin fans with a molex power.

Here's the pinout to help you troubleshoot.

1. ground

2. positive voltage. (somewhere between +5V ... +12V)

3. tachometer (speed report from fan to mobo)

4. PWM (speed control from mobo to fan)

 

When using PWM, only +12V from pin 1 will cut it. When controlling over lowered voltage, usually around +7V is a good minimum, but I think those industrial Noctuas actually need all 12V to function. It could well be that they don't work at all without PWM.

The fan splitter will likely have pins 1,2,4 connected for all fans and and the #3 pin connected for one fan only. See that that's the case. Because PWM can only take one signal in. If all fans report their speeds through the same channel, the controller will go haywire.

I think it's due to the molex connection you have to plug in the fans directly to the board to control them. Molex forces the fastest speed

Are those the 4 pin PWM version of the Noctua Industrials with a  splitter that is molex powered and has a 4 pin fan connector for control?

yes they are the 4 pin industrial fans and yes it is a 4 way splitter with molex power, if the molex is not connected then they do not spin at all

Yeah, because I made molex-fan adapters with speaker wire and electrical tape, and it seemed to work.

 

That reminds me, I need to fix it, the electrical tape came undone, and only one of my fans on my rad is spinning.

Which one are you using it sounds like a bad splitter you have the fans shouldn't even spin if there is no 12V power since the fan connector only has a single RPM line and PWM control line.

 

Double check the molex to make sure it's connected to 12v on the pins and if there is more than 2 lines for the 4 pin fan header.

Side note good luck with the fan control, I'm building my first hardcore desktop and would like to know the solution incase it happens to me.
