Im looking to spend a reasonable amount of money on some speakers- possibly a 5:1 or 7:1 set. Im mainly gonna be using them for music and movies but mainly music so i want real good sound...

Anybody got some suggestions?

7.1 is better when the movie supports it.

music = more speakers. (if quality obs)

whats reasonable to you?

Wait how do more speakers help music. They are played in stereo. A sub would help, but I dont see how having speakers behind you, would help in songs.

just speakers that give me the most out of my music?

Ik, but like, what size? Big ones youd put on the floor or something like a desk set that has two little ones and a big sub?

well im in the uk sooo i'd say no more than £300

I would say Bic America....mains, surrounds and center with either a Klipsch or SVS subwoofer and with a good receiver and man you have a killer set up.

this would be best, but if you want something simple :)

it would just fill the space better.

my surround sound setup is

4 loud speakers

kenwood jl.

2 in front 2 in back :)

(each speaker as a small mid and sub in it)

That is in NO WAY near the Bic America's with a good receiver. I bought and set up the Bic America's with a yamaha 636 receiver for my cousin and that this is mean. He bought a Earthquake sub but it is not doing it any justice. When we used my Klipsch sw110 it made his pocket lights fall out of his drop ceiling. The Center in the Bic America is a bit weak when compared to say a JBL but it is still decent for the price.

Well he never game a budget nor any real preferences but "reasonably priced" and wanting "real good sound" so it is an option for him too as well as are any other posted for him.

he said 300 uk so 450ish usa

Not in the original post and that is what i was referring to and then saw all the other posts.

the $450 USD range is really in the home theater in a box and most of those are weak in performance but more about looks I would recommend the Onkyo line the highs and mids are ok but the sub is really bad at high gain levels...they get "muddy" and just bottom out.

If the 300 GBP does not include the AV Receiver, then here are options for smaller rooms:

http://www.richersounds.com/product/speaker-packages/wharfedale/dx1-hcp/whar-dx1

Both can do music and movies quite well for the price. If you really want the best music output for the price though, you can put your money on a nicer 2 channel system.
