Hey Guys! Lot of time since been here. Anyways, Here's a request.

Could some of you guys recommend me a good router that'll not get OVERHEATED on continuous usage? I have a super cheap D-Link as of now. I wont need Gigabit and all those shit. I myself have less than an mb down/up.

But anyways, I'd like a good router,  under 120$ if possible (100 would be better). And the Wi-fi strength should be good enough. (It should be able to cross two rooms on the same floor here the router is kept, and the range should also come down to the basement). I dont want to keep using powerlines(or whatever those are called) and  range extenders. They've always sucked for me.

Thats probably it.

Thanks :)

I know. But sounds same. I've heard their service ain't good. It's true? I've used Cisco, D-Link and Netgear products as of now. Never used TP-Link.

Well since I don't have high speed connection, would getting a Gigabit router affect? I mean, like I could keep the same router even if I upgrade my connection right?

I know you wouldn't, But I thought so because I gave a tight budget for a good router, so I thought it would be shit.

It wouldn't affect your internet speed, but your network speed would be much faster.

Not really that tight a budget tbh

You could keep that router if you had a much faster connection

Also means anything over local network will be fast

You'll want the best 2.4Ghz radio you can get (not excluding dual band routers)

The 2.4Ghz band does not lose as much signal strength when going through obstacles like walls and floors.

Having more bandwidth to start with, means there is more leeway for signal degradation before it really impacts your internet speed (however slow it might be)

I have an Archer C7 and its never let me down on my 300Mbps fiber line and in-home streaming.

Isn't it like 2.4Ghz is slower but operates over a larger distance, and 5Ghz is faster but operates over a smaller distance? Am I correct here? So in my case, I think I should stick to a 2.4Ghz one, but I think a dual band one will be good as it will be future ready for my upgrades. I can connect to the AC Band then :D.
