How to properly program G-buttons

I've read somewhere that you can set your G-buttons to act as F-13-24 buttons, even though those are not on regular keyboards. Is that possible? Otherwise, what are some good guides on how to program G buttons? I have a Corsair Raptor K40 for reference.

I figure they're just macro keys like any other keyboard and in that case you can set them in the program I'm almost certain.  In Razer's Shitnapse 2 you can pick if you want to set one of the macro buttons to a macro or another key or a function, etc.
