Will a PCI-E 8x Slot bottleneck a 390X?

Just want to know in case anything happens to the 16x slot.

 

I have a Maximus Hero VII.

it wouldnt bottleneck if you put it inj a pcie 1.0 16x slo so a 3.0 x8 slot wont at all

actually a 4x should provide all the speed it needs

but i guess 8x is an industry requirement so yeah you need an 8x slot minimum
