i plan on having a 240mm in the front of my case with 4 NF-F12's in push pull along with a 200mm Phobya Extreme rad on the top of my case. problem is i got around to taking measurements and realised the 200mm would have clearance issues if i added a fan to it. the smallest 200mm fan is 20mm thick. i have at most 50mm of clearance. i will be cooling my CPU and GPU eventually with potential of a second card.

my options are to

A. have the 200mm as passive with no fans just a lot of surface

            or

B. have a 120mm rad at the back of my case.

the only reason im worried about clearance is my 8pin. if i can reroute that then that would be ideal.

thanks guy

TL;DR

can i have a 200mm rad with no fan with a 2x120mm rad with 4 fans and be ok.

With GPU and CPU you'll probably be ok, adding another GPU however, might be slightly too much.

im just worried the 240mm wont be able to handle a cpu and gpu and that the 200mm wont do anything

no way in hell could you do passive, you need a shit ton of rads to be capable of using low-RPM/ passive cooling

the 2x120mm wont be passive. im thinking that the 200mm will maybe allow for some additional cooling.

im getting the thickest 240mm i can find

If you have enough negative pressure in your case to actually force air through that 200mm I can see it working with the i5 and GPU, but like I said with another GPU, probably not.

You probably want to find one that's thick with lower FPI, though I can't imagine you having many 200mm radiator choices.

i cant fit a fan on a radiator that thick and still be able to attach my 8pin. im having serious clearance issues  :(

If you don't really care that much you can always try an external mount 200mm, but another issue here is that 200mm fans lack static pressure.

NOOOOOOO!!!! EXTERNAL IS SO UGLY

Alphacool makes 80mm thick rads in both the sizes you're looking for (120 and 240), but I'm not sure if an 80mm thick rad will fit in the back without interfering with anything.  You can also get a 180mm rad for the top and offset it to makes space for the 8 pin clearance.  I think Silverstone makes 180mm AP fans, so you can even get a pretty decent fan on that...
