I have just moved my old internals from my computer to a new case with new psu ready for a 970 to be put in soon. It booted fine with no hard drives connected but I thought I turned off the computer but I switched off the connected monitor so when powered I connected a fan splitter and it just instantly turned off. Now it won't boot . Is my motherboard fried or is there any way to test

Amy help would be very grateful!

Literally nothing it booted into bios when I was testing it and I connected a 4 pin fan header splitter connected to 2 fans and then it just cut off when I connected it! Now no matter what I do it just won't boot the power supply fan doesn't even come on. I tested the power supply with the tester it came with and it came straight on so it's fine.

This is why you need to make sure everything is turned off before swapping any component.

Could be static damage from you, or something shorted out.

AKA the motherboard is most likely toast.

Is there anyway to test for sure if it's dead?

If the PSU works and it doesn't even initiate the lights it's probably dead.
