I live in Australia and I am wondering if I would be better off buying two 7970s / 7950's or a single GTX 780?

I know that framerating is a problem but AMD is fixing it.

I plan on buying a 1440p monitor so I would like whatever performs best.

Thanks in advance.

The frame problem was addressed in the most recent driver update, I believe.

General policy would dictate that you buy the 780, as buying two cards off the bat for crossfire setup would be somewhat unwise compared to a single card solution. Buying two 7970/50 right now would probably be even worse by the fact that it should drop in price after the release of Hawaii.

To be honest I would to see what AMD's new series will be like since it comes out on the 25th next month.

wait until the arrival of Hawaii to see what that has to offer in terms or price/performance, at the very least you can expect a price fall for both the 780 and the 7xxx cards. Hopefully we will see a card that rivals or beats the 780/titan.

This is exactly what I would do but as my parents recently split up and I can't lug one computer around all of the time I need something for a secondary PC now and I can't be bother waiting for October.

for this reason + it's recent price drop makes it more appealing

Well then I would say the 780 would be best if you need it now. I have a gtx 670 and can play every game I have on max settings with 2xAA and only one game has given me a problem and that is the witcher 2.

I am not able to go for the 7990 because it is still $1300 in AUS...

I am considering buying from the US and shipping it over though so it may be a good option.
