As a student I really enjoy doing PC builds. But as most student know cash is a huge factor on buying new accessories.  So my question today, is I have a Gigabyte Windforce R9 280 3GB, (not the X version).  Id love to water cool this GPU, but as it is an older card there is hardly any blocks out for this. I have little knowledge about GPU cooling, so I was think of installing a NZXT Kraken G10 GPU for the RAM and putting a XSPC RayStorm GPU Water Block on the actual CPU and connect it to my current XSPC CPU water cooling loop I have recently installed.   I have read that, there is other AMD 7??? series that could be a possible match.  Any information or tips would be really appreciated.   Are XSPC and EK parts compatible  as well?

I also came across this, not sure if it is compatablie with my card, EK thermosphere universal vga block nickel.  If so does my RAM need to have some sort of cooling.

Thanks you

K.Jayms

I think the match you are talking about is probably the 7970 if I am not mistaking. the blocks for that card should fit on yours as long as it is the right PCB design.

I would go for  the Kraken (I have one) but I'm postitve that it cannot be used in a custom loop without a bit of modding to an AIO.

GER_T4IGA  How can i find out the information about PCB design.  I am a novice with GPUs =D

Vivilacqua1  I was planning on doing some moding on the Kraken if needed to to fit the Waterblock.  I'd perfer to get a full cover block for my GPU as it is less work.

Thanks for the help and tips =D
