i7 4790k vs i7 4770k?

Hey LTT Community! So I've been looking at CPU's lately so I can upgrade to an i7 from an i5 since I do very heavy video editing nowadays. In about a year or so, I plan on upgrading to X99 and will be getting the 5820k more than likely, but for now I'm probably gonna be getting the 4790k which I found for $279 at micro center. But my question is why is the 4770k alot more expensive than the 4790k if the 4790k is considered better? Just wondering is all. On amazon, the 4770k was like $420 and the 4790k is $339. Sorry if this is a stupid question by the way haha. Thanks in advance for any responses!

You are better off going with the 4790K vs the 4770K. It has better thermal compound underneath the heat spreader allowing for better heat dissipation, is clocked higher out of the box, and has been binned. It's been code named Devil's Canyon aka Haswell Refresh.

It's probably because they're not being made. The 4790k is clocked higher and the heat output of the 4770k is absolutely crazy. 4790k is just a better upgraded 4770k.

The 4790k has slightly better temps and is better at oc'ing. Also a cool name . "Devils Canyon"

yeah. i was just wondering why the 4770k was so much more expensive is all. i'm deff getting the 4790k. getting it this Friday after I get paid.
