Fitting 240mm Rad In Case

Hi,

I'm going to start off by saying thank you. I realise this sounds so stupid, but bare with me.

I have a Cooler Master Silencio 550 and recently purchased a 240mm rad as I am undertaking a custom loop. I can't fit a 240 rad in the Silencio. Here's the kicker: I knew I couldn't.

I bought a 240 rad knowing about the cooling efficiency vs a 120. I understood that I might as well be buying an AIO if I were to get a 120, which people have said will give about 1-2º difference to air coolers, so I thought, well, whats the point?

But I digress.

Does anyone know of anyway to fit it in until I buy a new case? (I plan on doing this)

Any tips? Anyway I could mount it on top (I have rubber grommets on the back) without screwing holes? (I want to sell the case in the future)

Thanks for any advice, I realise its so stupid, but this is PC building haha  :P

Chris  :D

A 120/140mm AIO won't be like a air cooler. The x41 Kraken performs VERY similar to the H100i from corsair

i think you can mount a 240 in the front if you remove the drive cages

Yeah, I can remove the top half of the cages, which I did. Then I can fit it in just, but the airflow is restricted by the bottom cages. I also have nowhere to mount it.

the manual says you should remove the bottom half of the cages and you will have another 120mm fan mount

Good idea ;)

Just get a 240mm rad template from MNPCTech.com, drill, cut and then mount your rad as desired. I mounted a 360mm rad to the roof of my 500R and a 240mm rad to the front of it.

If you're going to make mounts like I did then the thinest metal to use is 2mm thick Aluminium.
