Does that really matter?

I mean, they are the same thing, and most headphones (or <400 ones) use 1/8. If not, 5$ adapterr

It doesn't matter for audio quality, but if you accidentally yank the cable to the side, a 1/4" jack is much more likely to survive. I've never had any issues with it though, personally.

That, or your expensive toob amp goes smashing to the floor.

You'd have to yank the hell out of something like that though. Tube amps are generally ridiculously heavy, no?

Definitely starting to look like a winner.  I'll probably have to stick with my AV30s for speakers for a few extra weeks since I wasn't really planning on spending $500 on the AMP/DAC and still needing to buy active speakers, but that's okay.

  • 1 month later...

Sorry to necro this thread, but I thought I would give an update for anyone interested.  I finally made up my mind and pulled the trigger on my new audio setup. I ended up not going with the Emotiva Stealth DC-1, but rather went for a very similar product. I ordered the Teac AI-201DA-SV along with a set of Cambridge Audio SX-50 bookshelf speakers. They both should be arriving tomorrow. I'll be happy to report my experience to anyone interested.

I've been searcing the web for solutions other than a full size AV Receiver. I really don't have the room for a reciever in my room, even something like the Slimline Marantz recievers just take up too much footprint. I've looked at Dayton Audio APA100, which might work depending on the TV's audio out situation. Its still a little big, and doesn't have a remote, which would be a big bonus since I plan to use to for a TV as well.

I'm pretty much open to all suggestions at this point. Thanks

The NAD D 3020 may be worth a look. It has both analogue and digital inputs, is small and has a remote control.

I looked the NAD.  It didn't really fit the aesthetic of my setup. The TEAC integrated amplifier and Cambridge speakers showed up today. They fit my needs quite well.

Sorry, I wasn't able to read your last post. Congrats with your new gear! Those makers offer excellent value, in my opinion. :)
