I have recently sold my PC and looking towards buying the new parts, but after being with the Antec 1200 for a while I want to change to something a bit more quite and a lot less like a tornado.

Parts List:

Case:

I really have no idea which to pick from when it comes to this as there are so many on the market that claim to be "silent cases". I hopped over to SilentPCReview.com to have a look at their recommended list and I am still unsure about the case. I have it down to a few options: Be Quiet Silent Base 800, Fractal Design Define R5, CoolerMaster Silencio 652S or the Silverstone FT05. Only two of these are on the recommended list, but I do love the Silent Base 800 and the Silencio 652S quite a lot.

CPU:

No question the Intel Core i7 5820K, it is perfect for my use case in which there will be some video editing work and it's no more expensive than the Intel Core i7 6700K. It has been out for a while now and the platform has stabilized and if the Direct X12 rumours are true where it will be making use of more cores than the 6700K.

Motherboard:

The ASUS X99 - Deluxe/U3.1 is going to be the choice here. I like White, it's an incredible stable motherboard, has multiple fan headers and an extension card so I can use more if need be. ATX supported in all above cases, wireless adapter is fantastic. Only downside is no PS2 port, but I can live without that.

Memory:

I'll be using the G.Skil 64GB (4x16GB) DDR4-2800 memory kit. Not only does it give me a but tone of ram, but it makes things less cramp around the CPU area. Plus, it gives me the clearance I need for my CPU Cooler (I think).

Graphics Card:

Just going with the single Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 Ti G1 Gaming 6GB. It's a great card and the only thing beating it sometimes is the Titan X, but as I am focusing on silent here I don't want to deal with a reference cooler or the vibrations from any water cooling pumps, etc.

SSD:

Without a doubt no competition here the Intel 750 Series 1.2 TB SSD PCI-Express. It's quite, great speed, fantastic capacity, the only thing I want is for it to be cheaper and the PCB be black.

Power Supply:

Going with one of my favoured brands when it comes to power supplies, Seasonic XP-1200 Platinum 1200W Power Supply. 80+ Platinum, fully modular, hybrid silent fan, enough capacity it should stay under load to be quiet as possible. Should be just fine.

CPU Cooler:

I was torn for a little while, but in the end there was only one prime choice for silence, Noctua NH-D15. Honestly, it couldn't be anything else. I've have CLC's die before and it is a pain in the ass, but if a fan dies on an air cooler it's not as bad, it just won't cool as well. Just wish it was black and used the updated black Noctua fans. Speaking of which...

Fans:

Noctua NF-A14 or NF-F12's where necessary. No more needs to be said.

Optical Drive:

Yes, yes, yes I still use an optical drive. It's for back ups and Blu-Ray play back. If you're interested I will be using two Pioneer BDR-209EBK BDXL 15x Blu-Ray Writer Black.

Sound Card:

I don't like a very cluttered desk at all which is why I am not going with the O2, but instead going with the ASUS Xonar Essence STX II Sound Card. You don't have to agree with it, but just understand I don't like a cluttered desk and it's annoying as an Australian to get the O2.

Monitors:

I'm going with two here: Acer B6 B326HK YMJDPPHZ Black 32" 4K Monitor (worst naming scheme in the word) and the ACER X34 (XR341CKA). My reasoing is I love the 34" moitors for gaming (Mate has one and I fell in love with after using it) and the 32" 4K monitor is going to be used as a secondary monitor for things like Twitch, Youtube, Twitter, Netflix and when I need to photo shop. Overkill? No such thing.

Monitor Arm/Desk:

I'll continue to use my UpDesk and I wanted to just make things easier for me so I'll be using the Silverstone Black Arm Dual LCD Monitor Mount just to make it easier to get the monitors at the appropriate height for me when I need to use them.

Anyway, all feedback would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.

I have no idea what I am doing

Looks like it'll be a very nice build, you definitely have to do a build guide!

You really want the Intel drive? Seems a bit much.

Also, you can't use that dual arm mount. You won't have enough space between the panels. You can get 2 of their single arm mounts though, if you need.

For the CPU cooler why don't you get a BeQuiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 and put some Noctuas on them? Or http://pcpartpicker.com/part/cougar-case-fan-cfv12hpb these to match the build. Honestly these fans are insanely quiet. 17.9DB Which is considered less then silent and they blow enough air. Also PWN for the cooler. Here are some 140mm versions that are 18DB and blow good amours of air also. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/cougar-case-fan-cfv14hb

These will match the build and be silent.

You must have a lot of money to spend.

Haha, disposable income is pretty handy. It took a lot of hard work, time and time studying, but I finally got there.

Not even if the 32" is in portrait mode? But if I have to get two separate arms oh well. Thanks for the heads up. I will definitely do a build log when I feel comfortable and confident with the build list. Right now, the case is holding me back.

Hmm, interesting. Thanks for the advice. Is the Dark Rock Pro 3 comparable to the Noctua NH-D15? From what I have read the ND-D15 is the way to go with air cooling. I might just explore the possibility Dark Rock Pro 3 thought. Thanks for the advice.

If you want it to be truly silent:

Make sure to be able to regulate every fan and make fan curves for when you need more ventlation.

Get an insulated case, some website offer those as mods for some cases.

Put a large aftermarked heatsink on your gpu and let it chill at 50 C° with slow 120mm or 140mm fans while being inaudible.

Get a silence optimized psu. While your oversized 1200w unit will operate fanless at idle it is a rather noisy unit, expecially if youd add another

gpu along the line. The RMI series is fanless up to 50% load and has a very quiet fan for example.

concerning the dark rock:

Its very quiet, but also doesnt have all that great performance for such a premium cooler .

An nhd15 would be about as quiet if you regulate the fans down a notch, but then the performance would be more similar of course.

I don't think so. They're designed to be used with 24" monitors, and can take 27" monitors depending on the head weight.

34" is just way, way too wide for that kind of mounting system.

Yeah, I took a look at the ones in your list. I'd go with the BeQuiet, but that's mostly because it looks the most bad ass. The others look much too generic.

Have you checked out Linus's video on the BeQuiet case? He did one with loudness solely in mind.
