How do you start blogging?

I want to start writing a blog, I want to start writing a blog that is about Linux and technology, I feel it will get me away from things for a few hours at a time.

 

What site/application would you suggest is good for blogging?

Any good tips or advice to give for a beginner, I can write about technology but I can tend to rant a bit.

Any other things I am missing?

I just got myself a wordpress account and then i started writing
