I know it sounds stupid, but I scrapped my old PC and built a new PC yesterday, found out my previous installer CD [Windows 8.1 SL] came with an OEM License Key. Now I can't activate Windows, and I am still saving up to buy a new "License Key". Bottom line is how long can I use my "Non-Activated Windows"?  :(

Indefinitely.

You can't use some of the features.

Your old PC came with Windows 8.1?

Intel Core i3 2100 @ 3.10GHz - Intel Stock Cooler - Zotac Geforce GT 610 2GB Synergy Edition

Intel DH61WW - Corsair® Value Select 4GBx1 DDR3 1600 MHz - Antec BP-300P PSU

WD Green 1TB - Seagate 2.5" HDD 1TB - Seagate Barracuda 500GB - Antec X1 E.

Nope, it was Windows 7, found out both keys were OEM ones

Call MS, they'll definitely help.

On some versions of Windows it's 30 days, on others it's 90. It'll keep intensely bugging you to buy a license key while locking off more and more features

Just did 30 mins ago and they told me due to it being an OEM License Key it was definitely locked with the old PC's motherboard

Save up your money.

You have to buy new Windows then.

Buy it from G2A or Reddit.

After this period is it true that it would reboot every 2 hours and keep on asking for a key?

I know that definitely happened with the Windows 8 Developer & Consumer previews, but I had a licensed Win8 (OEM with laptop) before upgrading to 10 so I'm not sure

Yup, they told me due to it being a  OEM License Key it was tied with the old PC and its hardware :D

Its automated, when you go to activate it, it will ask you how many computers it was activated on and you say 1. Always worked for me  :o

There's a program that will show a message telling you that Windows is unlicensed, when it comes up go to task manager, find the process and then right click and click show location then just delete it

Really, but anyways was planning to buy Windows 10 Home or Pro with a full license, the question for me was just if I could use a "Non-Activated Windows" for a while before I could grab a new license key.

you are normally fine for 30-90 days. Then it will start to shut down your PC every 2 hours.

That doesn't happen, I'm running non-activated Windows
