EK-DBAY D5 PWM?

Hey everybody

I am currently arranging a new build:

CPU: Intel Core i7 6700K

Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VIII Hero

GPU: ASUS ROG Poseidon GTX 980 (not sure yet)

RAM: HyperX Fury (2x, 8GB, DDR4-2133, DIMM 288)

PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2

Case: bequiet Silent Base 800

 

In the middle of all planning it occurred to me that it would be fun to watercool the whole thing. But i really want to stick with the Silent Base 800. Sure not the best choice for water cooling.

 

Therefore I found the EK-DBAY D5 PWM to save space. Now I am not sure if the pump on that thing will be enough for CPU- and GPU-Waterblock and a single 120mm RAD at the back and a double one at the top of the case? Also will it be enough cooling for CPU and GPU?

I am totally new to watercooling every help is appreciated!

ehhh..

 

It could work.. but your fans will need to be turned up realllly high and that kinda defeats the whole purpose of watercooling IMO.

I'd say get ATLEAST a 240 if not more.

 

Also that pump & res combo should be fine.

 

Edit: saw you said a 240 in the top, 360mm of overall space should be enough to keep everything nice and cool & quiet as well

you may even be able to mount the rad inside and the fans on top between top metal cage and plastic cover.

welcome to the silent base owners;)

quick tip: you may use some 2.5 hdd because you can mount it behind the mobo tray and you can remove all the drive cages (or you stick the three-drive cage into the odd bay)

Sorry, I think i didn't say that clear:

 

A singel in the back of the case (ex. EK-CoolStream XE 120)

AND a double in the top of the case (ex.EK-CoolStream XE 240)

yep the D5 pumps have more than enough power to run your system 

 

but if you want to do liquid cooling then go with a stock nvidia pcb version gpu

The whole "get a reference pcb" thing is really not very important anymore, the really popular aftermarket cards like strix/G1/classified 99% of the time get blocks made for them now. They usually have better overclocking results than reference cards, and when going under water on a GPU, you can usually get some massive OC's outta em.

But I do not get the whole thing about the reference pcb what is that about? (ASUS ROG Poseidon GTX 980 is water and liquid..)

Is there a best way to stick the loop together?

I thought about: res->GPU->single Rad->CPU->double Rad->Res

20$ is hardly anything when considering custom watercooling & high end parts..

 

If it results in getting an extra 50 mhz I'll gladly spend an extra $20 lol

I thought about: res->GPU->single Rad->CPU->double Rad->Res

the loop order doesnt really matter

first of all its AT LEAST $20

second of all overclockability cant really be determined by the pcb so its hard to make an apple to apple comparison

last of all personally i dont think 50mhz is worth $20, we are talking about 0.1 frame or less (if it CAN get an extra 50mhz at all)

50 mhz is a lot more than .1 FPS lol

Hey every one

 

I finally found time and water cooled my PC :D

 

CPU: Intel Core i7 6700K

Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VIII Hero

GPU: Gigabyte GTX 980 G1

RAM: HyperX Fury (2x, 8GB, DDR4-2666, DIMM 288)

PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2

Case: bequiet Silent Base 800

SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB

 

Everything from the loop is from EKWB exept a temperature sensor form PHOBYA. I have a EK-CoolStream PE 240 in the top and a EK-CoolStream PE 120 in the back of the case. The res. is a EK-DBAY D5 PWM.

 

A Picture of the whole thing: (Please do not juge my bends to hard because they are not perfect in any sense and i know that. It is my first try and for now it is oke. In the future when i have time i will do them again.)
