The whole "Seagate drives are bad" is really exaggerated, because most people probably trust sources like Backblaze. They had a few bad drives like the Barracuda 7200.11 and the current Barracuda 3TB, but all other drives from Seagate are excellent and deliver better performance for their price than the WD drives.

I have both WD and Seagate drives. Both have lasted over 5 years. I usually mostly buy WD because I really like their customer service / it's really cool how there's a WD rep on LTT. The one Seagate laptop hybrid we have is still working completely fine though. I think people need to realize BackBlaze is completely violating what the normal use of the drives is (WD Reds are meant to be 8 drives max / Seagate drives 8 drives max too for the consumer side). They have the money to keep replacing the drives as they die due to vibration / overloading them in massive bays...we as normal people do not.
