Soundbars are rarely worth it compared to traditional speakers. Which do you have in mind and why do you want a soundbar?

I don't know if you noticed but that thing is huge and are intended for tv setup. But if you like the style of soundbar and want to try them then go ahead. To answer your question it's not a good buy and I don't think anyone on this sub would recommend them over speakers setup.

What speakers do you recommend?

Sound bars are absolutely awful. They have the worst sound quality of any speaker I've ever heard. It's generally a wide box full of tweeters and all the mid-tones and low frequencies are sent to the subwoofer. You're better off purchasing anything from JBL with a small amplifier.

$70 Speakers: http://www.amazon.com/JBL-Loft-Bookshelf-Speakers-Pair/dp/B00DKPJSIM/

$10 Speaker Wire: http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-16-Gauge-Speaker-Wire-Feet/dp/B006LW0WDQ

$30 Amplifier: http://www.amazon.com/Lepai-LP-2020A-Tripath-Class-T-Amplifier/dp/B0049P6OTI

$10 Cable: http://www.amazon.com/BlueRigger-3-5mm-Stereo-Audio-Cable/dp/B008UG6GCC

That's about $120 and it will be significantly better sound quality, and probably cheaper, than most sound bars.

Some $500+ sound bars might sound better, but $500+ speakers would destroy them.

5.1??? You wanted a sound bar... That doesn't imply you wanted surround sound. Look at the Logitech z906. It's well priced, but probably double what you want to spend.

It seems to say that's unavailable for purchase, but that might just be for me. I don't see any reviews.

Seems like it will do the trick. How much does it cost?

I can get it for 178$.And yeah on amazon it's unavailable.

Yeah I mean $200 or so is about what I would expect to pay for an entry level/decent surround sound. I watched some YouTube videos on them. Definitely better than a sound bar.
