Kraken G10?

Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

Hmm i guess I'll stick to my trix cooler then.... Where does the 290x stand in today's market anyways? Should i bother with an upgrade if im gaming on 1080p?

If so should i aim my next upgrade to be 4k and a new gpuat the same time?

You should probably upgrade your monitor before you upgrade from a 290x.

Is there any other shroud like this that mounts an AIO to a gpu but cools the VRM / VRAMs too? Im looking to cool my 290x which is basically a oven with a load temp of 80c

That's what the fan is for. As for the vram, you can get small heatsinks from eBay or amazon but they're usually not necessary.

Hmmm but those are rather hard to find in my country~...

Is 80c load temp fine for a 290x?

There's the Corsair HG10 A1, but the watercooler itself doesn't cool the VRM, I think the fan from the stock cooler provides some airflow and cooling to them.

You don't need to cool the vRAM, they don't produce much heat.

How effective are they? And is it even worth it to strap an AIO on a 290x? :o

That's what the fan is for. As for the vram, you can get small heatsinks from eBay or amazon but they're usually not necessary.

But i saw so many reviews online they mentioned that the fan is insufficient

Infact my VRM gets to 85c~ with the tri-x cooler which is wellknown to tame a 290x

You're fine up till ~90c.

Any of the compatible AIO's should bring load temps down to ~60-65c.

85c is fine.

But how do they stack up against a tri-x cooler?

Should be easily better if not just quieter. http://www.kitguru.net/components/graphic-cards/henry-butt/arctic-accelero-xtreme-iv-gpu-cooler-review/6/

Unless you want more extreme oc's or want a quieter cooler, your current Tri-X is fine.

At what temps will my 290x start degrading then? :o

And how is an OC of 1090/1380 stock voltage sound like?

Degradation usually occurs from more voltage and less so temps. The card should shut down if it ever gets too hot but it's generally recommended to keep it below 90c.

The clocks seem normal.

Alright thank you!

Last question. A custom loop with my rig (in sig) or g10 on 290x? Which would you personally do?

Between the two, I'd go with a G10. I don't see why you'd use a custom loop on a 4770.

What I'd actually do though is take off the graphics card shroud and mount noctua fans on it.
