So my friend's PC has been glitching out lately on all of his games. I tried to fix it by updating drivers, stress testing, checking everything, etc. Everything looked fine and I couldn't see any problems. However, when he plays games his display driver always crashes and the sound stutters forcing him to alt + tab to fix it.

His specs

GPU - Gigabyte GTX 660 OC

Motherboard - Gigabyte Gaming 3

RAM - Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB 1600 MHz

CPU - Intel Core i5 4590

PSU - Thermaltake 650 watt

He's tried reverting drivers but that didn't fix the problem. Any suggestions?

It's weird though because I got him to stress test the card for a while on it's default clock and it didn't stutter or crash at all.

Yes, I had exactly the same issue. My drivers would randomly crash during games when my card wasn't OC'd in any way, benchmarks went fine though. I ended up toying around with clock offsets and voltages.
