Hey! Recently started playing FFXIV with a friend of mine.

This is my first actual investment into an MMO (Where i actually get involved in the community) and am looking for others who would like to play with us!

I was thinking about starting to play it, cause I kinda miss the old MMORPG-days...

Do you like it so far? Is there anything that bothers you about it?

It's a western-style MMORPG, lots to love.

It really is true that if you want to play a great MMO you should go P2P.

I love it so far, i played the beta on the PS3 back in 2012 and wow the devs really took their time with the game and added/fixed so much since then.

I'm only Lv.45 in one class though so i haven't even "started playing it" (Usually the "good stuff" starts at Lv.50 as far as going raiding with large amounts of people, etc.)

A few things do bother me.

If you've ever played DC Universe Online they have a system called the "Style system" in which you can change the aesthetics of your character with gear you have collected, while reaping the benefits of good gear you have equipped without looking like a moron, unfortunately FFXIV has something similar called the "Glamour system" but you can only access it later in the game. This isn't a huge issue because the way the glamour system works is it makes your armor appear like another piece of armor, so only that piece of armor looks a certain way. The reason being it's not a huge issue is because you're constantly upgrading to new pieces of armor so even if you had access to glamours you would be "enchanting" ("putting glamour") on almost every single item you would receive very frequently which would be a pain.

Another issue would be something that plagues a lot of MMOs, is that there are a lot of "independent vendors" on FFXIV. These vendors are people who send you a message (via mass message to everyone in the area) that try to sell you in-game cash (gil) for real currency. They can be quite annoying and i have about 50 people blacklisted so far that are all vendors (probably doesn't do anything because there's always a vendor under a different name and i'm wasting my time by blacklisting but i still do it anyway) more than that buying into those vendors screws with the economy in-game but that's more of a buyer problem.

Besides that i can't think of much else, FFXIV really is a solid game.

As a 7 year wow player, ARR is one of a few MMO's to hold my interest longer than 20 levels. Along with SWTOR (on release), Rift (on release) it's one of a few ive actually managed to hit end game on. I started with a Monk, hit 50, then Black Mage 50, White Mage 50. I cleared everything ready for Heavensward on my WHM, but started levelling a Ninja to take into HWS end game. It is good and there's a lot of ways to level, which makes it less of  a grind. Im in the EU on ODIN and I ain't leaving, been on here since release and spaces are rare =)

Sounds good so far.

I have played a lot of Guild Wars 2 with friends, but that got quickly boring, even tho I still think it's a great game.

So I'm unsure when it comes to new MMORPGs.

I tried really hard to get into GW2, Theif and ele at 80, but end game is a grind and it's so easy to die lol

Yeah, the game can be really challenging.

What I like about GW2 is how brave the developers were. They tried so many new things and were really trying to change the whole MMORPG system that we're used to. And it kinda worked. It's still a very unique game and probably one of the best MMOs ever made.

by the way I have no idea what "theif" is (thief) lol

I started on the Thief and thought id make the dagger, and then though, wtf bother, its the same stats as the crafted, it just looks pretty ...

Then I aimed for 100% completion, got to like 98.7% didn't play for a while and my toon ended up on a US server.... had to delete and make another on EU server, that sort of ruined it for me. I aint played in over a year, what is there to do no bar fractals and PWPVP
